Optimising production processes to enhance efficiency

What is your role within the company? Can you describe it in detail?

I am the production manager in the joinery. I am in charge of planning activities, and bringing the different departments together to ensure that delivery deadlines are met and product quality is maintained.

Over the years, have you perceived an evolution in your position or how you operate? How would you describe this change?

I started my career at Veragouth about three years ago as a second painter on the evening shift; during the hours that intersected with the first shift, I was responsible for carrying out small and medium-sized carpentry work. During the periods when the evening shift was not needed, I worked on all the machines, expanding my knowledge of the company’s approach to work more and more, demonstrating through my drive and positivity the desire to grow within the company. In November 2022, I was offered the position of production manager.

How do you think your role has contributed to the company's growth?

Thanks to the experience gained over the past years and a continuous desire to find innovative solutions to the problems encountered along the way, I think I have succeeded, in my small way, in optimizing production processes to increase the efficiency of our resources and improve collaboration with other departments. In addition, I am part of various small working groups in which, together with my colleagues, we discuss various company issues to create strategies to improve the production departments.

What has been the most rewarding moment you have experienced in your work so far?

There is no particular moment because the growth I have experienced in the company in itself gratifies me every day, but, if I had to choose, the thing that gratifies me most is being able to motivate and lead my team toward the company’s goals.

Was there a project that you were particularly passionate about? Why?

The project I am most passionate about is researching and purchasing new machines and the development of a new production area within the company. This project is exciting to me because I am contributing to a small transformation of the company that will bring a nice change in terms of optimizing production processes.

What skills have you developed working here that you consider most valuable?

Working here I developed organizational and management skills for production processes, communication, and staff coordination skills, the ability to handle pressure and stress pressure, and good problem-solving and teamwork skills.

What challenges do you foresee in the long run of your career path?

My biggest challenge will be to accurately guarantee delivery deadlines, safeguard a positive working environment for my team and at the same time increase the quality of our product.

If you had to describe your experience in the company as a journey, what would be the main stages and why?

My journey at Veragouth and Xilema has been full of discoveries and surprises. I could divide it into three stages, each of them important. The first stage was my start in the company as a temporary worker, when, after a month of work, Mr. Veragouth handed me the company uniform jersey, letting me know that I was now part of the team. The second stage was my recruitment after the probationary period, where the biggest challenge was to prove my passion and drive for the job. This led to the last stage and challenge, which I am still facing today: production management. Then, who knows! As you can see, surprises are never lacking at Veragouth.

If you had to choose one song representing your journey in the company so far, what would it be and why?

If I had to choose a song that represents my path in Veragouth and Xilema, I would opt for ‘Hall of Fame’ by The Script, as it invites one to work to be the best version of oneself, a motto I have adopted in my daily work.
