A new exclusive finish
Milan Design Week 2023
Thank you to all of you for taking part in our Milan Design Week 2023.
With the Omphalos installation by Studiopepe, Veragouth and Xilema presented a preview to the public of a new exclusive finish. Inspired by the maquettes necessary for the preparation of a piece of art, the technique called “Mirettatura” expresses all the strength of the material, bringing an artisanal gesture to the industrial pattern scale. “Miretta” is a small tool with wooden handles at the ends of which arcs are fixed, they are used to model the sculpture by removing the plastic material.
“Mirettatura”, similarly, scans the surface of the wood with a unique rhythm, creating small excavations on the surface that brings out the natural texture with a delicate light and shadows play. The finish can be performed on all types of wood, from fir panels to more precious essences, for every creative and qualitative requirement of interior design.
Studiopepe stages storytelling that starts from the symbolic architectural proportions up to the individual elements that are linked to archetypes and the collective imagination. The room is called Omphalos, the navel of the world according to the ancients. The most secret, intimate room, the theater of our emotions and our rituals. Veragouth e Xilema designed and built the entire installation in wood, studying the new special texture and designing the sub-structure to support the construction. The material research of Studiopepe meets the innovative strength and experience of Veragouth and Xilema.
