This is a renovation and expansion of a school built in 1977-1978; a building that is articulated around a central space characterized by a large skylight. The classrooms and environments for teaching activities are arranged around it, according to a clear and functional scheme that has allowed considerable flexibility of use over the years. The expansion responds to the need to create seven new teaching rooms, a library and a conference room with related services and vertical connections. The intervention is characterized by the utmost respect for the integrity of the place, thus avoiding further land consumption, and is carried out in height with an elevation of the existing building. The elevation maintains the existing distribution scheme, with a central space visually connected with the space below through the large void in correspondence with the raised skylight. The new classrooms, the library and the conference room are organized around this space.
