Prix Lignum 2021
Located in a fluvial and marshy context of national importance, the centre completely replaces a previous structure, recreating a new balance with its surrounding. The simple and modular manufacturing is the peculiarity of the building, enhanced by the predominant use of wood. The natural land height difference is matched by a concrete base – containing all the services – that emerges from the ground and forms the large restaurant terrace that connects the building with the car park through a staircase. The wooden structure rests on this concrete element: on the ground floor the reception, the bar, the kitchens and two restaurant and refectory rooms; on the first floor the accommodations, arranged according to a regular and functional module. The head of the building towards the street has an additional floor that houses the SPA. The use of wood guarantees excellent environment and energy sustainability characteristics. The completely dry construction can be easily dismantled and the wood disposed of or reused without ecological consequences.
