The new university campus for USI and SUPSI in Lugano is a building that functions like a city, it is both a monument and an infrastructure and has the dual objective of accommodating around 1,600 people and acting as a link between the two districts of Lugano. We were responsible for the door and wall coverings in striped flamed oak, the pulpit in the conference room and over 700 doors. What makes this building unique is the decision to make every product completely customised, combined with the seriality of certain elements, which has allowed us to manage a streamlined site and create a flexible system that can respond to changes over time. The choice of wood is the ideal solution to compensate for the exposed concrete structure. The result is a majestic, modern and innovative and at the same time welcoming. It has the right warmth to become a reference point not only for students but for the entire city.
