The wooden building is spread over two floors, comprising compact and structural dimensions – except for a back area defining the main access – and an overhanging sunshade element that characterizes the south facade on the first floor. On upper floor areas there are wide open surfaces situated above a cantilevered section that supports the load of the roof and the offices on the upper floor. The load bearing cantilevered slab is made with a 320 mm wide XLAM / CLT element, for a span of 6.70 m and an overhang on a height of 2.10 m. The slab allows to support the upper floor and the roof, using the same thickness as the structural height required in the remaining part of the building, where a structural system supports a span of 7.80 m. The facades are made of natural larch slats laid vertically to give height to the grand and massive body; the dimensions of the slats have three different widths to create an animated laying raster. The sloping roof made it possible to create two long north-facing fanlights that allow a good supply of natural light to the rooms. The construction was carried out entirely in wood and obtained the Minergie P-ECO and Minergie A-ECO certifications. A photovoltaic system of 300 square meters was installed on the roof of the building; the heating is by a water to water heat pump which takes heat from groundwater.
