The part of land where the the existing building stands is characterized by a steep slope and nearby woods. The impervious nature of the terrain and the strict functional requirements are both restriction and key elements of the design solution, transforming objective limits into quality architectural responses. The service areas are concentrated on street level, while on the first floor there are ergo therapy and physiotherapy rooms, and the last two floors are intended for hospitalization. At street level, the high and compact base, containing technical areas and a small gym, raises the building to landscape and eye level, and supports the physiotherapy covered terrace above. The hospitalization rooms on the top two floors interact with the nearby trees, while on the back the relationship with the steep slope is resolved with a series of long and narrow atriums like, where light and abstraction create particular atmospheres.
